[July 9th, 2026] DALLAS, PA -     Special Characters, Northeast Pennsylvania’s enigmatic jam/funk/improv trio have released their highly awaited first studio EP “Special Characters in The Spy Who Funked Me”. Now available on major music streaming platforms. The band developed their style “Spy Funk” combining their love for tight grooves with mystery and exploration. Music fans are invited to join the band in their musical journey as they sneak through the Tunnels, bring down the Barn House, and tell the story of the titular “Spy Who Funked Me”.

“For this first release we wanted to show off a little bit of everything we do” said guitarist Sam Ciravolo. “For a 3 song EP it covers a lot of ground. From the melodic guitar leads on Tunnel Vision, to the cinematic horns on Barn House, and finally the deep grooves of the title track”.

The 26 minute EP was recorded over the summer, and fall of 2025 at Logic Paws Soundlab in Wayne County Pennsylvania. It features contributions from noted recording engineers Stitch Pugliese and Diana Jones with bassist Justin Sollene rounding out their stylistically expressive sound.
